A&P

$390 MILLION
Since 1859, The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (A&P) has been a leader in the grocery business. This history of excellence has helped make it one of the nationís largest grocery store chains.

Opportunity:
A&P needed to reduce debt and modernize their business processes, retail stores and distribution facilities.

Cardinal Solution:
In 2001, Cardinal Capital acquired a $200 million portfolio of three distribution centers, five shopping centers and 11 freestanding supermarkets.

In 2004, Cardinal Capital completed a $190 million portfolio sale-leaseback of seven freestanding supermarkets and seven shopping centers in the New York Tri-State area.

By developing a relationship with Cardinal Capital, A&P achieved their business goals by efficiently monetizing the full value of their real estate assets.
