Dick's Sporting Goods

Dick's Sporting Goods, Inc., is an authentic full-line sporting goods retailer that offers a broad assortment of brand-name sports equipment, apparel and footwear in a specialty store environment. Dick's Sporting Goods carries products for numerous games and sporting activities including baseball, soccer, football, lacrosse, street hockey, tennis, golf, skating, swimming, hiking, camping, cycling, squash and many more. The company operates 239 stores in 34 states, primarily throughout the eastern half of the U.S., operating under the Dick's Sporting Goods and Galyan's Trading Company names.

Cardinal Solution:
Cardinal Capital Partners was selected to provide capital and expertise in assisting Dick's Sporting Goods in the development of a retail store in Charlotte, North Carolina. Dick's Sporting Goods presented various transaction objectives such as an expedited closing, a rigid and nontraditional disbursement schedule, the elimination of interest rate risk during the construction period and the 20-year lease term, as well as the realization of the best economic terms in the marketplace. Cardinal Capital Partners was able to successfully achieve all of the objectives set forth by its partner/client through its 16 years of experience as a leading sale-leaseback finance firm. Update: In 2007 Cardinal completed another transaction involving the construction of a property in Lake Grove, NY.
